"Find-it" . . . Search and Display
utility-app project objectives:
To create a utility that would start by clicking on a desktop icon.
To have it work on either a Linux or on a Windows desktop computer.
Upon clicking on the desktop icon, a small search window would pop-up, as shown below.
Two different versions to be built, initially. Additional variations to be built later.
Version #1 would be a dedicated version intended to work only on a pre-specified file.
In this case, by entering the name "library," the matching results to be displayed in a new window to open below the search window.
In this example, the specified file is a text file containing phone numbers and corresponding names, addresses, and optionally miscellaneous information in a text file with a single line for each entry.
One desirable option would be to allow users to either open the subject file in a text editor or append additional entries onto the existing text file.
Version #2 would be the same, except it would allow users to either enter a path and filename or "Browse" for a specified file to be searched.
No doubt some discussion will be needed to clarify additional considerations
and I will then update this page as necessary.
