Jerry Chapin - BBHS Class of 1957

Gerald "Jerry" Joseph Chapin was born June 1, 1939. He attended Chadron State college for two years.

On December 30, 1968, he was married to Bonnie Prescott of Broken Bow. Jerry and Bonnie purchased acreage on the South East of Broken Bow, and lived there for their entire married life together. Jerry was employed at Custer Public Power District for almost 30 years, serving as a field engineer.

Jerry attended st. Joseph's Catholic Church, was a member of Pressey Promenaders Square Dance Club, Broken Bow Elks Lodge, Sandhills Anglers Fishing Club, and he was also an Aquatic Instructor.

His most important past time was spending lots of time with his two grandchildren. His hobbies included being outside with nature, woodworking, fishing, hunting, and camping.

Jerry was a very hard worker and always gave 100% in everything that he did.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, a son, Dwayne Chapin of Omaha, a daughter Addy Catlett and her husband, Jeff, of Broken Bow, and his two grandchildren, Desarae and Joseph Catlett of Broken Bow; one sister, Patty Jacquot and husband Jerry, of Merna; two brothers: Gene Chapin and wife Lola of Broken Bow, and Jim Cahpin and wife, Debra of Merna; his parents, Glen and Celestine Chapin of Broken Bow; and several nieces and nephews.
